Team India Prepares for a Busy 2025-26 Season with Important Series and Tournaments Ahead

Mumbai, April 15 — The Indian cricket team is set to embark on an intense and crucial schedule following the conclusion of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The 2025-26 season will see a focus on both Test and limited-overs formats.

Kicking off the cricket calendar is a prestigious five-match Test series against England, which marks the beginning of the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle. After narrowly missing out on a spot in the current WTC final, India is eager to start this new campaign with vigor. The team will also strive to reclaim the Pataudi Trophy, which they lost in the tightly contested 2021-22 series. This red-ball series could symbolize a new chapter in Indian Test cricket, potentially ushering in a change in leadership after a challenging 2024-25 season.

In white-ball cricket, the focus will shift towards T20 Internationals, especially with the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup approaching. As co-hosts alongside Sri Lanka, India will prepare to defend their title on home ground. Reports indicate that over the next year, India will engage in nine Tests, 12 One-Day Internationals (ODIs), and 18 T20 Internationals, including matches in the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup.

India’s red-ball campaign will commence with the England Test series scheduled from June 21 to August 4, 2025. Following this, India is set to tour Bangladesh in August for a bilateral series featuring three ODIs and three T20Is.

The Asia Cup is on the agenda for September 2025, providing another opportunity for India to fine-tune their squad ahead of the World Cup. In October, the West Indies will visit India for a two-match Test series.

The journey continues with a demanding tour of Australia from October to November 2025, which includes three ODIs and a five-match T20I series. The year will wrap up with fixtures against South Africa and New Zealand, capping off what promises to be an exhilarating season.
